CEBU CITY — Determined to transform this Queen City of the South into like the Lion City that is Singapore, Mayor Mike Rama has succeeded in securing a P100 million “pledge” from Filipino-Canadians in British Columbia, Canada for the completion of one floor of the envisioned modern Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
This was disclosed by Rama’s secretary, lawyer Collin Rosell on Saturday, Aug. 27, six days after Rama and other city officials made an official trip to Canada.
“They (the Filipino-Canadians) are not saying that it’s too much, but what they said to us is CID or Consider it Done,” Rosell quipped.
He added that the members of the Filipino community in Canada also agreed to help the CCMC by providing new medical equipment.
Rosell further said the Filipino-Canadian community in the province of British Columbia also expressed support for Rama’s plan to transform Cebu City into like Singapore.
They promised to coordinate with other communities in Canada to help contribute to Rama’s cause, he added.
Aside from the P100-million pledge, Rosell bared that the city government of Vancouver, British Columbia expressed interest in establishing “friendship city” relations with Cebu City. (ai/mtvn)
