KORONADAL CITY – a critically endangered Philippine eagle was found dead along the shoreline of Purok Maguid, Barangay Daliao in Maasim town, Sarangani, on monday morning, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Soccsksargen.
The agency stated on Facebook that a government employee found the eagle believed to be dead after four to five hours, with the cause of death still unknown.
“No tag or chips were noticed in the raptor upon the inspection. It weighed 5.6 kilograms, has a 102-centimeter length and 188 cm wingspan,” DENR said.
“The carcass will be sent to the Philippine Eagle Center in Davao City for necropsy,” it added.
